Siemens LNG solutions: the power of efficiency

Based in Hong Kong, integrated energy company Energy World Corporation (EWC) is looking for solutions that unlock efficiency potentials in their primary gas, LNG and power operations.

Less is more: LNG solutions made to measure

For EWC’s planned Sengkang LNG operation in Indonesia, there was no standardequipment available. So the company designed a modular system that allows smaller LNG plants to be developed far more economically. At the core of the concept: a Siemens all-electric LNG solution, comprising compressors with electric drive systems for four 0.5 MTPA liquefaction trains, that significantly increases cost effectiveness in construction, operation and maintenance.

When all the calculations were done, the actual efficiency of running the plant with Siemens LNG solutions was somewhere around the 46-50% as against something like 30% or 32% on some of the others.

Siemens LNG solutions: safe and sound

Floating LNG storage and regasification terminals like the “FSRU Toscana” require sturdy rotating

equipment and a reliable and efficient solution for boil-off gas compression.

Performance on the high seas: LNG solutions for offshore service

OLT Offshore LNG Toscana S.p.A. (OLT) is the company that developed, and now owns and manages, the floating regasification terminal “FSRU Toscana”. The mission of OLT is to provide LNG regasification service to support the Italian natural gas grid in times of peak demand. During the storing of cargo from visiting ships and the regasification process, a lot of boil-off gas is created. A Siemens LNG solution based on a boil-off compressor helps keep these transfers safe and allows the gas to be sent ashore instead of being vented or burned. The result: less environmental impact, increased efficiency and reliable gas supply for the Italian mainland.

The boil-off gas compressor is a core part of our terminal, making it possible to have an offshore terminal that performs as well as a traditional onshore terminal during the offloading operation.
